An official band shirt lasts for years if you wash it the right way. The print is the most delicate part, so everything revolves around it. These tips keep your shirt sharp, colourfast and wearable.
Washing
Wash band shirts inside out at a maximum of 30 °C with a mild detergent. That keeps the print from rubbing against the drum and the colours deep. Official prints are colourfast and can go in with the rest of your wash.
Drying
Hang your shirt to dry and skip the dryer. A dryer’s heat shrinks cotton and can crack or peel the print.
Ironing
Never iron directly over the print. Turn the shirt inside out or place a thin cloth between the iron and the print.
Storing
Fold your shirts or hang them on a wide hanger. Keep them out of direct sunlight, because prolonged UV light fades black fabric and bright colours.
That keeps your merch looking good for years. Want to know whether your shirt is genuinely official? Read how to spot official merch, or browse the full merchandise for bands guide.
